Overview
The System Administrator (Unix/Linux) is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, implementation and operation of the enterprise Linux/Unix environment.
Responsibilities
Provisioning, configuring, and managing Linux/Unix Systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, Amazon Linux).
Supports the operations of key enterprise Linux/UNIX platforms policies and procedures; provide reliable and timely responses to service requests.
Perform enterprise level system upgrades of Linux/Unix operating systems, including evaluation and installation of OS and other application patches.
Create and manage scripts to perform system tasks.
Patching, upgrades, and security hardening of Linux servers.
Providing technical support and expertise to ensure the smooth operation and successful completion of Linux-based projects.
Provide engineering support of key infrastructure components.
Proactively monitor servers via monitoring tools, i.e. New Relic, Zabbix etc. to anticipate and mitigate problems.
Manage Service Level Agreements, documentation, and policy/procedure related to Linux/Unix environments.
Resolve escalated issues from the IT Service Desk and other IT departments.
Abide by all Change Management, Service Management and Incident Management processes and procedures. Attend Change Approval Board (CAB) meetings, and Incident Management conference calls as needed.
Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation and respond to business emergencies.
On-call rotation is required
Qualifications
Requirements:
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in managing Linux/UNIX platform and its core services
