Overview

This role provides strategic leadership for enterprise-wide Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery (BC/DR), and Security Incident Response programs. It ensures organizational resilience by aligning people, processes, and technology with business priorities and regulatory requirements. The position oversees preparedness, crisis management, and training initiatives, while managing BC/DR and Incident Response analyst and leading the organization’s response to disasters or security events.

Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Provide guidance and oversight to the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT), continuity and recovery teams, ensuring effective coordination, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead crisis response efforts, directing teams and resources to ensure timely and effective recovery.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and serve as a trusted advisor across the enterprise, embedding continuity, recovery, and incident response into broader risk and operational strategies.

Security Incident Response

  • Oversee and actively participate in the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) to ensure timely and coordinated response to security incidents.
  • Conduct enterprise risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities, gaps, and areas for improvement, driving remediation plans with stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver awareness and training programs to strengthen incident response readiness across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align crisis response efforts with enterprise priorities and risk management strategies.

Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) 

  • Lead the enterprise BC/DR program, ensuring alignment with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and organizational risk tolerance.
  • Direct the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and conduct risk assessments to define accurate recovery time and point objectives (RTO/RPO) and identify mitigation strategies.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee BC/DR activities, including exercises and tests, to validate capabilities and strengthen resilience.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain BC/DR policies, standards, and documentation to support critical business and IT functions.

Manage vendor assessments and oversee BC/DR-related projects to ensure sufficient capabilities, capacity, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA degree in computer science, business administration or related field.
  • Professional certification from either the Disaster Recovery Institute, International (DRII) or from the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) or related certification or degree desired.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business continuity and recovery planning methodology, frameworks and industry best practices and industry related standards (ISO, BSI, FSA, etc) with a keen appreciation of associated benefits, practical limitations, risk, financial and business impact analyses.
  • Prior experience in the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of Business Continuity Management (BCM) methodologies in large organizations, or in related discipline such as Risk Management desired.
  • Ability to handle full scope supervisory responsibility during a crisis, emergency, disaster or security event.
  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery application and infrastructure architectures with the ability to clearly define High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and Continuous Availability (CA) requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather data, perform data analytics, and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and give presentations.   
  • Excellent project management experience with strong planning, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills necessary to establish standards and implement complex business continuity plans.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with Service Now ticketing tool is desired.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a complex, fast paced and rapidly changing business environment.
  • Availability when needed on a 7x24 basis and ability to participate in On-Call schedule(s).
  • Ability to travel, globally, if at all deemed necessary.
