Overview

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees within the company. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and procedures, conducting regular safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Sr. Admin to ensure that all Health and Safety, Environmental & Facilities compliance is adhered.
  • Assist the Sr. Admin to verify compliance for all activities undertaken.
  • KPI information & data recording.
  • Conduct offices inspections and internal audits to monitor compliance in all areas of responsibility.
  • Perform internal audits to provide risk management to evaluate the effectiveness of our company’s internal controls, corporate governance, and accounting processes.
  • Assist the Sr. Admin to develop in Microsoft Teams new internal processes and procedures and a reliable internal audit tool.
  • Review and maintain sites risk assessments and work with management team to produce SSOW for identified tasks.
  • Facilitate and support the management teams to investigate all near misses & accidents and input onto the internal database.
  • Maintain and control sites H&S plans and assist the Sr. Admin to host visits from external agencies as required.
  • Act as the host for external accreditation audits.
  • Arrange and record all Health and Safety and Environmental training when applicable in conjunction with HR.
  • Identify potential hazards (e.g., ergonomic issues, fire risks, slips and falls).
  • Conduct periodic safety audits and inspections to ensure a safe work environment by maintaining an incident log and report findings to management.
  • Implement corrective measures to minimize risks.
  • Ensure compliance with local occupational health and safety laws.
  • Collaborate with HR, facilities, and other departments to integrate safety practices into operations.
  • Engage employees in safety initiatives, promoting a proactive safety culture.
  • Act as a liaison between management and regulatory bodies on safety matters
  • Investigate accidents or near-miss incidents to identify root causes and recommend preventive actions to avoid recurrence
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans (e.g., evacuation procedures, fire drills).
  • Conduct safety training sessions on topics such as fire safety, ergonomics, and emergency procedures.
  • Develop communication materials (e.g., posters, newsletters) to promote a culture of safety.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Safety Officer, preferably in an office of BPO industry
  • Completed BOSH, LCM, and First Aid training with CPR.
  • Background in OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001 and 14001 preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of DOLE OSH Standards & DO 198.
  • Experience of managing or participating in internal audits processes.
  • Experience of environmental and quality management processes.
  • Effective training and presentation skills.
  • Experience using Windows based packages (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
  • Able to retain knowledge and understand multiple processes.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in BPO industry.
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
  • BOSH, OSHA, First Aid or CPR (or similar organization)
  • Work experience preferably in an office or BPO environment
